General Information
Site plan
You can click the button above to download a plan of the site showing the location of the different parts of the South East Bus Festival and the Heritage Transport Show, including the location of the bus stops served by the frequent free bus service.
However, please note that, should it be necessary to implement the wet weather plan, some elements of the event will be relocated to make space available on areas of hardstanding and roadways for the buses to be parked if the ground is too soft for them to stand on grass.
Leaving the showground
Please note that an improved traffic management system will be deployed at the end of the event to ensure that visitors and exhibitors can leave the showground more efficiently than was the case at the 2024 event.
This year vehicles departing from the main showground will leave via Entrance 1 but cars in the external car parking areas will use a separate exit which joins the A249 further to the east. This should avoid queues forming and the carriageway will have cones positioned between the two lanes to allow slow-moving vehicles leaving from Entrance 1 to join the carriageway without having to wait for a gap in the fast-flowing traffic.
No vehicles will be allowed to leave the main showground until 4pm when the event officially closes as it is disappointing for visitors if exhibitors leave early and, for safety reasons, the only vehicle movements while the event is open will be the buses on the free bus service around the site.
There is no time restriction for visitors leaving the external car parking areas.
Wet Weather Plan
In 2023 the event had to be cancelled at short notice, following several weeks of rainfall, due to waterlogging of the showground and the car parking areas in the surrounding fields.
To mitigate future problems of this nature, following a further period of significant rainfall in the weeks leading up to the 2024 event, a Wet Weather Plan was formulated to allow the event to go ahead in such circumstances by parking the buses and coaches on areas of hard standing, to avoid them experiencing difficulties caused by sinking into soft grass areas, with some of the Heritage Transport Show exhibits being reallocated around the site as a result.
The public car parking area was also moved to an area less prone to waterlogging.
The plan worked well and, with a few alterations based on the experience of 2024, can be implemented, if necessary, in future years to ensure that the event can go ahead, even if significant advance rainfall occurs.
Refreshments
There will be a variety of different caterers located around the site.
Toilets
Toilet facilities are located around the showground and in the main buildings used for the event.
Dogs
Dogs are allowed on site but must be kept under control by a short lead.
